Cryotherapy at Refined Baildon

Remove skin tags, warts, and age spots quickly with cryotherapy at our Baildon clinic. This precise freezing treatment safely eliminates skin lesions in seconds, with the treated tissue peeling away in days to reveal clear, healthy skin and minimal downtime.

Cryotherapy is a quick, safe treatment we offer in our Baildon clinic to remove unwanted skin lesions and blemishes by freezing them.

This technique uses targeted extreme cold (a fine jet of nitrous oxide or liquid nitrogen) to freeze and destroy benign skin imperfections such as skin tags, warts, age spots, cherry angiomas, and sunspots.

The procedure is very precise: the cold applicator (often a device like a CryoPen) allows our practitioner to treat only the lesion without significant impact on the surrounding healthy skin. Treatment is typically very fast – usually a matter of seconds per lesion – and you might feel a slight stinging or cold sensation, but it's generally well tolerated without needing anesthesia.

After cryotherapy, the treated spot will initially blanch and may form a small blister or scab over the next day or so. Over the following one to two weeks, the frozen tissue naturally falls away, revealing new healthy skin beneath.

Cryotherapy is an effective, minimally invasive solution for achieving clearer skin, and it involves minimal aftercare (just keeping the area clean and protected). It’s a convenient option to quickly eliminate minor skin flaws without surgery or stitches, helping you regain confidence in your skin.

FAQ's

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

In most cases, a single cryotherapy session is sufficient to treat each individual lesion.

After one treatment, the targeted wart, skin tag, or spot will freeze and subsequently fall off as it heals. If you have multiple lesions, we can treat them all during the same appointment (each counted as one treatment per lesion). Occasionally, a particularly large or stubborn lesion might require a second session if it isn’t completely resolved after the first freeze.

We'll assess the lesion at a follow-up (if needed) and determine if an additional treatment is necessary – but this tends to be the exception rather than the norm. Overall, cryotherapy typically offers a one-and-done solution for most small skin blemishes.

How Long Will Results Last?

The results of cryotherapy become visible relatively quickly as the healing process unfolds. Immediately after treatment, the area may redden and you might see a blister form within a day. Over the next week or two, the lesion will darken or scab and then naturally slough off. For small skin tags or spots, this can happen in under a week; larger lesions might take closer to two weeks to drop off. Once the scab falls away, you'll see fresh new skin in place of the old lesion.

So, generally, you can expect to see the final outcome (clearer skin where the blemish was) within 7 to 14 days post-treatment, depending on the size and type of the lesion and your individual healing rate.
